I wanted to create some sort of shadowy, demon-like creature coming out of a wall. I liked how the black and white scans make a foggy look on the paper, and by moving my body parts around while the scan took place, I was able to distort them in discomforting ways.

                     The vacuum tube played a key role in the development of radios, televisions, and computers. The purpose of a vacuum tube is to control the flow of electrons. This can be used to amplify a current, work as a switch, and with the invention of the cathode-ray tube, display an image. The amplification of current allowed radios to receive a signal broadcast from miles away and amplify it for us to hear. Vacuum tubes were also used in the first computers as on/off switches, to perform calculations. Televisions were made possible by a variation of the vacuum tube, the cathode-ray tube. This tube contains multiple anodes, which attract electrons. One focuses the electrons, and one accelerates them, causing them to collide with the phosphor coated screen, which glows to create the images seen on the first TVs.  Dubstep: I would add Bassnectar to this category. They use a heavy amount of technology in their songs, creating the beats electronically. They also include sound bites from various sources, which are electronically edited to change their pitch, speed, and other factors. Their most well-known song “All Star” features the use of electronic instruments. The music video for the song contains a modified version of the song, with an intro, sound effects, and dialogue to set the tone of the video in a comedic way.
